Faisalabad ASO seizes non duty paid foreign origin blankets during crackdown

FAISALABAD: The Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized foreign origin non duty paid blankets. The market value of seized items is Rs 4,50,000 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs 3,00,000.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Zulfikar Ali Chaudhary received credible information regarding smuggling of garments. After receiving the information the collector constituted a special team and which intercepted a truck bearing registration no. SWAT-C 8081 near By pass Jhang Road and recovered huge quantity of non duty paid blankets (1700 kilograms). The consignment was being transported from Karachi to Lahore via Faisalabad.

The team asked the driver namely Zahoor to produce legal documents regarding possession of items. He provide photo copies of GDs invoice no. KSCI-HC-62410 dated 11-05-2012 as per bility which is four year old and not tallied with blankets. The ASI team seized the blankets and and registered a case against him.

The ASO team comprises Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joiya, Ali Zahid, Mehmood Ahmed Dogar, Dilawar Hussain, Liaqat Ali, Zulifkar Ali Awan, Muhammad Arshad.

The Anti Smuggling Organization after registering a case of smuggling against accused persons forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication.
