Faisalabad ASO seizes smuggled generator worth Rs 1.34m

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of the Customs Department has seized a 110-KVA foreign origin generator. The market value of the seized generator is Rs 1.34 million.

Sources informed Customs Today that Deputy Collector Rana Falik Shair received secret information that a generator is being transported from Hyderabad to Faisalabad through truck trailer bearing registration No TLS-852 without payment of duty and taxes.

He immediately formed a ASO team comprising Saeed Akhtar Joiya (Supritendent),  Khalid Akhtar Noor, Masood Saeed Chohan, Safdar Ali (inspectors), and Muhammad Khalid, Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Naeem, Muhammad Javed, Naeem ullah (sepoys).

The ASO team intercepted the truck and asked driver who was identified as Tahir Mateen Ullah son of Matteh Ullah) and Yasir Abbas son of Nasir Ali to produce legal documents regarding possession of generator, but they failed to provide any relevant documents. ASO team seized the generator and forwarded the case to customs adjudication for further proceedings.
