FAISALABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate’s Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has seized smuggled goods worth Rs 102.25 million while curbing various smuggling attempts during first five months (July-November) of the current fiscal year 2015-16.
The collectorate has jurisdictions over two civil divisions, which comprise 12 districts covering an area of 46,000 kilometres.
During the first five months, the Faisalabad Customs registered 111 cases and impounded 46 non-duty paid vehicles worth Rs 34.15 million as compared to 45 vehicles, which were impounded during same corresponding period of last year. Besides, it has confiscated miscellaneous goods worth Rs 68.1 million.
Officials told that all raid were conducted following credible information received through Faisalabad Customs Collector Zulfaqar Ali Chaudhary regarding the smuggling of non-customs paid goods and vehicles.
The raiding team comprising Superintendent Muhammad Javed Mehmood, Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Sardar, Inspectors Masood Saeed Chohan, Muhammad Safdar Ali, Abdul Jabbar and Sepoys Afzal Hussain Khalid Dogar, Muhammad Ashraf Liaqat Ali, Israr Ahmad and Muhammad Abdullah took part in operations.
