FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized smuggled items worth Rs 4.53 million in second week of February 2016.
Following the instruction of Collector Dr Zulafqar Ali Choudhary, the ASO team started campaign in the region under the supervision of Deputy Collector Falik Sher. The ASO team comprising of Superintendent Muhammad Javeed Mehmood, Deputy Superintendent Sardar Muhammad, Inspector Masood Saeed Chohan, Abdul Jabbar and Zulafqar Ali, Hafiz Naseer Ahmed, Muhammad Abdullah sepoy and Afzal Hussain driver participated in the raids.
As per details, the ASO team intercepted two vehicles loaded with smuggled goods worth Rs 2.7 million and also seized others two vehicles which were trying to smuggle temper into the country without payments of customs duty and taxes.
The ASO team has also seized 290 kilograms of foreign cloth worth Rs 1.35 million in another raid. The accused person failed to produce any legal documents regarding possession of vehicles and foreign cloth.
The ASO team seized the above said illegal goods and registered separate cases of smuggling against accused persons.
