Faisalabad ASO seizes smuggled items worth Rs1.493m

FAISALABAD: On special instructions of Additional Collector  Saeed Asad Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO), Faisalabad conducted various operations against smugglers and recovered smuggled goods worth Rs1.493million during second week of December, 2016.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan constituted a team to curb smuggling included Saeed Akhtar Joiya (superintendent), Ali zahid, khalid Ashraf Noor, and khalid Dogar (inspectors), Muhammad Ashraf, Liaquat Ali, Israr Ahmad and Muhammad Abdullah (sepoys).

During the checking of vehicles the ASO impounded two non-duty paid vehicles worth Rs1.050 million under section (U/S 157). These vehicles were brought into the country without payment of custom duty and taxes and used in smuggling purpose for transportation.

During the various actions the ASO team also recovered foreign origin F/O cloths (355-Kgs), worth Rs183750 and miscellaneous goods worth Rs260,000 during the said period.

Faisalabad ASO seized all items under section of Import and Export Control Act 1950 punishable under Section 156(1)89(i) 90 of the Customs Act 1969 and forward the cases to Customs Adjudication Faisalabad for legal action.
