FAISALABAD: The Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) confiscated a smuggled Mazda truck bearing Registration No. LES-585 and found 102 packages of (100 Rolls and 2 Bales) of Foreigin origin curtain cloth in different colors were being transported from Rawalpindi to Faisalabad.
The smuggled cloth was seized under section 168 and 157 of the customs act 1969 along with mazda truck used for transporation of smuggled goods for violation of section 2(s) read with SRO 566(1)/2005 section 16 and 18 of customs act 1969.
The accused persons namely Nasar Khan provided three goods receipts having No. 004, 005, 006 along with photocopies of two GDs bearing No. 417/15. The descriptions of goods in the provided GDs were not matched with the recovered cloth.
Ghulam Murtaza appeared on behalf of the respondents without power of attorney and he requested for release of seized goods upon payment of duty and taxes. While Saeed Chohan inspector appeared on behalf of seizing agency. He also stated that the AR appeared from respondent person who arranged for release the seized cloth on payment of duty and taxes after dividing the CIF value.
Therefore, order for outright confiscation of F/O seized cloth with carrier vehicle Mazda truck used for transportation of smuggled goods in favour of the Federal Government under section 156(1)89 of the custom act 1969.
