Faisalabad ASO confiscates smuggled cloth worth Rs 1.48 million

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has confiscated already-held 4,950 yards of silk cloth worth Rs 1.48 million and a truck being used for transportation of smuggled goods.

The ASO team on a tip-off received through Model Customs Collectorate Faisalabad Collector Tauseef Ahmad Qureshi intercepted a Hino truck bearing registration number ID-2690 near Sargodha Bypass, Faisalabad.

The team recovered eight bundles of cloth valued at Rs 1.48 million, on which the officials asked the driver, Muhammad Arif, to prove the legal import of the cloth, but he failed to do so.

The ASO team comprising Superintended Zahid Bukhari, Inspector Safder Ali, Mehmood and Ahmad Dogar keeping in view the above circumstance  believe that the silk cloth is smuggled and liable to confiscation under the prevailing customs law.
