LAHORE: The Customs Preventive has foiled a bid to smuggle turtles at Faisalabad International Airport. The officials deployed at the airport recovered 45 turtles, which were being smuggled to Malaysia.
Sources informed Customs Today that the Customs Preventive, during the checking process intercepted a passenger, who was identified as Muhammad Iqbal. The Customs Preventive team, headed by Superintendent Saleem Akhtar, examined the luggage of Mohammad Iqbal and recovered 45 turtles. The Customs team asked the passenger to produce legal documents from Wildlife Department and the Customs Department to export these turtles, but the passenger failed to produce any relevant documents in this regard.
The Customs Preventive team seized the turtles and handed him over to the FIA for further interrogations.
