Faisalabad Customs generates Rs 11.6m through auctions of goods, vehicles

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has collected Rs 11,601,927 through auction of non-duty paid goods and vehicles during four month (July-October) of fiscal year 2016. The auction was held on the premises of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Park.

According to the details, different types of smuggled goods, which included tyres tubes, vehicles, heavy duty generators, auto parts, kids suits, solar panels, fans, cloth, and various LEDs were put on auction.

All items were seized by the Customs Intelligence staff during the said period. During the auctions, some vehicles and other miscellaneous items were successfully auctioned.

The auction was held through open bidding where everyone was given opportunity for the bidding of confiscated goods and vehicles. Deputy Director Riaz Hussain said that some items were confiscated by Customs Intelligence under Customs Act 1969.

It is necessary to mention here that the Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigations generated Rs 119,073 during the month of July through while Rs 2,589,510 were generated in August and Rs 5,055,181 in September 2016 and Customs Intelligence collected Rs 3,838,163 during the month of October 2016.

Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussian supervised the auction process to ensure transparency along with Superintendent Saif Ullah and Senior Intelligence Officer Mansoor Nasir.
