Faisalabad Customs Intelligence seizes smuggled items worth Rs 146.2 million in 9 months

FAISALABAD: The Customs Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation seized smuggled items worth Rs 146.2 million involving duty and taxes to the tune of Rs 142.3 million during the nine months (July-March) of the current fiscal year 2014-15.

The Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation impounded non-duty paid vehicles and other vehicles, used for transportation of smuggled items worth Rs 49.37 million during July-March of this fiscal year.

As per the detail, the Faisalabad RTO also confiscated generators and other machinery worth Rs 46.7 million, cloth worth Rs 18.6 million, dyed woven fabric worth Rs 5.21 million, ceramic tiles worth Rs 3.09 million, computers worth Rs 3.65 million, foreign origin timber worth Rs 2.43 million, almond worth Rs 1.27 million, red chilli worth Rs 3.67 million, polyethylene bags worth Rs 10.7 million, cigarettes worth Rs 17.6 million, furnace oil worth Rs 2 million, auto parts worth Rs 3 million, BOPP film rolls worth Rs 4.5 million, ladies handbags worth Rs 2.14 million, 105 drums of Iranian Sulphonic acid worth Rs 4 million, tyres’ scrap worth Rs 4.66 million, foreign origin hardware worth Rs.1.2 million and other items during the last nine months.

The high-ups of Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation have appreciated the performance of the intelligence teams who foiled various smuggling bids in the region.
