Faisalabad Customs impounds goods & vehicle worth Rs 6.4m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated smuggled goods worth Rs6.4million involving duty and taxes of Rs 512304 during a road checking besides impounding a container valued Rs 300000.

According to details, the intelligence team, following the directions of Deputy Director Riaz Hussain, conducted a raid on a smuggling vehicle. The trailer was loaded with miscellaneous items near Sadhar Bypass, Jhang Road, Faisalabad. The team recovered used personal computers numbered 915 pieces, 48 CPUs, 367 Hard Disks, 756 LCDs of different brands, 1285 laptops and other items.

The officials asked Importer named Noshad Ahmed, a resident of district Jhelum, to show documents regarding the legal import of the items but he failed.

The officials impounded the vehicle and goods under Section 18 and 32 of the Customs Act-1969 read with Section 3(1) (3) of Import and Export Control Act-1969.

The intelligence officers, including Deputy Director Riaz Hussain, Superintendent Muhammad Saifullah, Senior Intelligence Officer Tahir iqbal, Intelligence Officers Naseer Ahmed, Muhammad Saleem, Mansoor Nasir and Sepoys Ajamal Hussain and Muhammad Musaddiq Ahmad, took part in the action.

Seizure reports have also been submitted to the Adjudication Department for further legal action.
