Faisalabad Customs Intelligence recovers smuggled cloth

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Faisalabad has confiscated foreign origin polyester grey cloth weighing 8810 kilograms.

Sources told Customs Today that following information received through Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain, the intelligence team comprising Senior Intelligence Officer Zahid Saleem Mirza, Intelligence Officer Mansoor, Bashir Hussain and sepoys Sajjad Ahmed and Khalid Ahmed intercepted a trailer bearing registration no. 9404 (Peshawar) on Jhang Road and recovered the cloth.

The team asked the accused persons who was identified as Amjad Javed son of Manzoor Ahmed who is resident of Toka Tek Singh to show the documents regarding its legal import. He presented bilties issued by Saqib Dhoda Cargo Service in the name of Imran (consigner), and All-Noor textile Mills Faisalabad (consignee ) showing the description 101 bundle of waste scrape while other bilties showing description of 2150 bags of chemical issued by Interlink Transport Network Karachi.

Therefore the customs officials seized the cloth under the Import and Export Control Act 1950 punishable under Section 156(1)89 and 178 of Customs Act, 1969. The seizure report has been sent to adjudication for further legal action.
