FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated smuggled goods worth Rs 13,750,000 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs 8,170,000 during last week of February 2018.
According to the details, the intelligence team following the directions of Director Rubab Sikander conducted various raids to foil smuggling attempts in the region.
The Customs Intelligence seized tyres, 3 allegedly smuggled by Zafar Maqsood and others worth Rs. 1050,000 involving duty taxes amounting to Rs720,000.
Field Investigation Unit Sargodha seized non duty paid Hino truck bearing Registration N: KWS-15-506 worth Rs 5,000,000 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs 2,975,000 during the said period.
On the other hand, the FIU Sargodha impounded a Hino truck bearing registration no: LES-12-7741 model 1997 worth Rs5,000,000 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs 2975000. Aqeel Ahmed who is resident of Muzaffargarh has been nominated as accused by intelligence staff in the case.
The customs has made confiscations under Section 156(1)89 and 90 ibid read with Section 3(1) (3) of the Import and Export Control Act 1969 after the owners failed to produce any document showing the legal import of the items.
