Under the supervision of Additional Director Azmat Tahira, the Customs Intelligence improved its performance, as it foiled various anti-smuggling activities in the region saving the national economy and local traders.
During the said period, the intelligence staff impounded non-duty paid vehicles, auto parts, generators, fabric, Indian origin polyester and other miscellaneous smuggled goods.
The officials had confiscated the items during different raids in the region after the accused persons failed to show the documents regarding the legal import and lawful possession of the items.
Talking to Customs Today, Additional Director Azmat Tahira vowed to eliminate the menace of smuggling causing loss to national exchequer. She added that the department was striving to nab the smugglers involved in brining the different items into Pakistan through illegal routes evading duty/taxes.
