Faisalabad Customs Intelligence seizes smuggled items, truck during crackdown

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated Indian origin goods and non-duty paid Mazda truck worth Rs 22,617,400.

According to the details, Director Rabab Sikander received credible information about some smuggling attempts. He immediately constituted customs team comprising Deputy Director Riaz Hussain, Superintendent Zahid Raza Bukhari, Senior Intelligence Officer Muhammad Tahir, Intelligence Officer Muhammad Saleem and Muhammad Siddique.

The team intercepted a a truck bearing registration no: LET-3375 loaded with ladies fancy dupatta, ladies shirt cloth, embroidery  cloth and other items.

The official asked the driver namely Muhammad Jameel son of Badar Zaman to show the documents regarding its legal import but he failed to do the same. Therefore, the customs officials seized the goods under the Import and Export Control Act 1950 punishable under Section 156(1) 89 and 178 of Customs Act, 1969. The seizure report forwarded to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
