FAISALABAD: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated huge quantity of mobile phones and different items worth Rs15,50,000 involving duty and taxes of Rs8,20,000.
Sources told Customs Today, that Director Rubab Sikander received a tip off that some smugglers are trying to smuggle mobiles phone and non duty paid items from Peshawar to different cities. She immediately constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Rana Irfan Shouqat to enhance surveillance on Faisalabad Highway.
During the search operation, the team intercepted Master mini truck bearing registration no: TK-851 near Shahkot Toll Plaza which was coming out of the Faisalabad city.
During the checking, the customs team recovered foreign origin mobile phones which were tactfully hidden in the vehicle body.
The customs team seized the all items and arrested the driver who was later identified as Muhammad Aslam son of Fazal Karim. The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation registered a case against the owner of the vehicle and started investigations.
