Faisalabad Customs seizes smuggled tyres, tubes worth Rs 420,000

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated smuggled tyres and tubes  worth Rs 420,000  involving duty and taxes to the tune of Rs 217,207.

According to sources, the customs staff intercepted a truck near Gatwala Toll Plaza, Shiekhpura Road, and recovered a huge quantity of smuggled tyres and tubes. These tyres and tubes were being transported from Lahore to Jhang.  The team asked the driver to produce documents regarding the legal import of the items.

The driver showed a cargo slip issued by M/s  New Jhang Goods Transport  Company but failed to provide proof of customs clearance and import documents. Therefore, the customs teams seized the goods under  Section 2kk  and 17  of the Customs Act, 1969 and a served notice on to suspect Atif  Mushtaq and Ahmad Nawaz , Jehangir Sheikh.

The customs team comprising Muhammad Rafiq (superintendent) Naseer Ahmad, Muhammad Saleem (IO), and sepoys Muhammad Rafiq, Mohiuddin,  Zulfiqar Ali, Israr Ahmad, and Muhammad Tariq.

After considerable passage of time, as well as no proof of its legal import and lawful possession was produced. Later, the Customs Intelligence submitted the seizure report to the adjudication department.
