Faisalabad Customs seizes worth Rs1.6m Iranian goods

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Faisalabad, has seized different smuggled Iranian origin glassware and plastic-ware worth Rs1.6million involving customs duty and taxes of Rs852000.

Sources told Customs Today that Additional Director Customs, Faisalabad, Azmat Tahira received a tip-off regarding the smuggling of above said items. She formed a raiding team comprising Superintendent Zahid Raza Bukhari, Senior Intelligence Officer Muhammad Tahir, Intelligence Officers Muhammad Saleem, Mansoor Nasir and Sepoys Ajmal Hussain and Muhammad Musaddiq Ahmad.

The customs team intercepted a trailer with registration No: TLS-443 near Rajana Road, Kamalia, Toba Take Singh. The trailer was loaded with glassware weighed 18538 kg and plastic-ware did 810 kg of Iranian origin. The team asked the driver of the vehicle, identified as Muhammad Ishaq son of Abdul Qadoos, resident of Killi Janiping Ali, Noshki Chungi, to prove the legal status of the goods but he failed. The customs team seized the goods and registered a case against the accused.
