Faisalabad customs seizes worth Rs20.6m goods in 3rd week of February

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Faisalabad confiscated goods valued Rs 20.6million involving duty and taxes of Rs13.9million during third week of February of Financial Year FY2016-17 besides impounding offending vehicles worth R600000 in different anti-smuggling activities.

The customs, under the supervision of Rubab Sikandar, conducted various raids to foil smuggling attempts and registered smuggling cases were against suspects. Sources said the customs intelligence seized a huge quantity of goods.

Following the instruction, Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain conducted a raid against the smuggled goods and vehicles in different areas of his jurisdiction including Sargodha, Khushab and Faisalabad.

The team confiscated smuggled goods including foreign origin used miscellaneous machinery worth Rs4.5million involving customs duty of Rs2.9million, smart dreams brand chocolate with coconut cream made in Iran (1530-Boxes), Rs1.3million involving customs duty of Rs885420, Aldin brand chocolate Bar (1200-Box) valued Rs01.00million involving duty of Rs776587, Rani brand float juice (6216-Tinpacks) Rs500000 involving customs duty of Rs395369, A.C compressor auto for LTV (169-Pcs) worth Rs01.00million involving customs duty of Rs76800, miscellaneous media speakers valued Rs6.2million involving duty of Rs02.09million, Special grade Boski cloth (240-kgs) worth Rs07.00million involving customs duty of Rs901612, Toyota fielder car with registration No: AAN-349 valued Rs2.5million involving duty of Rs2.09.

The customs field investigation unit Khushab seized foreign origin ( F/O ), Chocolate coconut Bar made in iran ( 250-Cartons ), Worth Rs, 1,440,000 involving customs duty Rs, 875,500 during the above said period.

The customs staff, including Senior Intelligence Officer Muhammad Tahir Iqbal, Intelligence Officers Muhammad Saleem, Muhammad Ramzan, Muhammad Siddique and Sepoys Muzamil Hussain, Israr Ahmed, Liaqat Ali, Muhammad Rafiq, Muhammad Iqbal and Mussaddaq Ahmed, participated in the seizure operations.

The seizure cases have been referred to the Customs Adjudication for further legal actions.
