Customs Court to take up case against two suspects today for using fake Form-E in onion export

KARACHI: The judicial remand of two arrested accused namely Muhammad Asif and Muneer Ahmed in case of export of an onion consignment on forged Form-E would be expired today (Thursday). The Judge of Customs Courts Arshad Noor will summon the case today (Thursday).

According to details, the Export Intelligence Branch (EIB) on April 9 registered an FIR against those two accused Muhammad Asif and Muneer Ahmed in their alleged involvement in exporting an onion consignments on fake Form-E, which causing foreign remittance loss to Rs 1.6 million.

The authorities concerned of Export Intelligence Branch (EIB) received information that some unscrupulous elements on forged Form-E were attempted to export onion consignments.

Reacting upon the information, the authorities concerned of EIB scrutinized the clearance data and found that the aforementioned accused were involved in exporting the onion consignments on fake Form-E which causing colossal loss to the foreign remittance.

During the scrutiny, the EIB authorities concerned seized an onion consignment which was to be exported on forged Form-E, while the accused have succeeded to export an onion consignment before their arrest.

The EIB authorities after arresting the accused registered an FIR against them and presented the accused into Customs Court on April 9, 2015 and sought 13 days remand from Customs Court.

The sources informed Customs Today that the investigation into the said case was in progress and the arrested accused disclosed some significant information to the EIB officials.

They further said that the authorities concerned are also scrutinizing the past clearance data and also checking the veracity of Form-E which were being used in exporting the consignments.

Responding to a query, the sources further said that the EIB authorities concerned would request the Customs Court to extend the date of judicial remand of the arrested accused further, so that more information regarding the case would be obtained.
