ISLAMABAD: President of Tribal Areas Chamber of Commerce, Shahid ur Rehman has said that we are not against tax amnesty scheme announced by the government because we are already paying taxes on time. He described the tax amnesty scheme as a good step, if government would bring non-filers under the tax net and not put all burdens on filers. He said due to this step the burden of taxation on tax payers will decline in future.
Talking with Customs Today, he said that only NTN holders can get membership in our chamber. He said that it is necessary that FBR should make the documents easy for all the tax payers to narrow the gaps between revenue department and business community.
Answering a question on the performance of FBR, he said that FBR is performing well from last few years and has also good interaction with the business community. He appealed to government to take all the stake holders on board before taking any final decision regarding tax issues.
He said that Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce has decided to hold a seminar regarding the upcoming budget and all chambers will present their proposal which will be sent later to the government for approval. He said that this time we will pressurize the government to ensure the implementation of the proposals.
He said that if government will take the business communities and stake holders on board, many problems will be resolved. He further added that government should announce more incentives and facilities for building industries in FATA so more investor can invest in the region. Business activities are gradually increasing day by day in FATA but government should concentrate to change the conditions of the people in FATA.
He said that we are expecting that government will grant some concessions for FATA people that will enable them to take part in economic activities. He said we know there are lots of good officials already performing in FBR that we are quite optimistic that government will definitely take some comprehensive measures to decrease the problem being faced by the trader’s community of FATA.
