FBR asked to send feasibility report on ‘Road to Seven Trillion’ project

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Finance has sought feasibility report regarding a revenue booster project, “Road to Seven Trillion’ from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

The ministry demanded the report in order to allocate funds for this project during the current fiscal year’s budget.

Under this project, the revenue collection of the FBR will be increased to Rs 7 trillion in three fiscal years. It will also create more jobs for people as jurisdiction of the FBR is being expanded to small cities where a workforce will be required.

Sources said that FBR Chairman Nisar Muhmmad Khan has assigned task to Inland Revenue-Operation Member Dr Muhammad Irshad for making a feasibility report of the project. Under the supervision of IR member, Revenue & Budget Secretary Qadeerullah has starting working. The member has directed to include each and every detail of the project in the report.

The sources added that Finance Minister Ishaq Dar was taking keen interest in the project since he was briefed by the FBR officials on it. Dar has directed the ministry to not only support the FBR in this project but also assist it by issuing funds uninterruptedly.

The sources informed that the feasibility report would be completed by mid of September 2016.
