FBR asks all field offices to ensure implementation of ‘Energy Conservation Plan’

KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue-FBR (Revenue Division) has asked all field formation offices to ensure the implementation on “Energy Conservation Plan”, introduced in the Cabinet Committee’s meeting of Ministry of Works and Power, headed by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

In this regard, a letter has been issued by the Second Secretary FBR, Samaira Nazir Khan in which she told all the customs and other field formation offices to ensure the implementation of “Energy Conservation Plan for Summer-2015”.

It is pertinent to mention here that the said plan was evolved during the 12th Cabinet Committee meeting of the Ministry of Works and Power which was chaired by the prime minister.

In the meeting, it was decided that the government functionaries would make efforts in order to conserve the energy for future.

In the cabinet meeting, Nawaz Sharif had finalized some decisions to save energy and directed the provincial and federal governments to “switch-off unnecessary lights in their offices during day time, besides urging them to use the sunlight in the offices during working hours.

The cabinet committee in the meeting also decided to close down the markets in the country by 9:00 pm, close down the marriage halls by 10 pm and restaurants by 11:00 pm for conserving the energy.

In this regard, the Ministry of Works and Powers has also established “Energy Conservation Cell” at ENERCON, The National Energy Conservation Centre in Islamabad for implementation, monitoring and reporting on the conservation of electricity.

In the letter, the FBR asked the authorities concerned of all field formation collectorates to form monitoring teams at departmental level and also appointed a focal person in this regard who will look after the implementation on energy conservation plan.
