FBR asks officers to provide details of dual nationality

ISLAMABAD: The administration of Federal Board of Revenue has once again sought details of its officers of BS-17 and above who have dual nationality so that the details could be submitted to the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

A circular issued by Secretary (Mgt. Customs-I) Haroon Waqar Malik, the officers have been asked to provide their position with regard to dual nationality by return fax or email before close of office hours today (March 6).

“In case of no reply, it shall be presumed that you have single nationality and the same position will be forwarded to the concerned section for onward submission to the honourable Supreme Court of Pakistan,” it added.

It is pertinent to mention that the Supreme Court has constituted a six-member committee to examine the matters of civil servants having dual nationality and submit its report within two weeks.

The committee is headed by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) director general and comprising Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) member, National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) chairman, Immigration and Passports director general, additional secretary interior and additional secretary establishment division.

A three-member Supreme Court bench comprising Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Ijazul Ahsan issued instructions while hearing a suo motu case pertaining to dual nationality held by some civil servants.
