FBR Chairman, Member Customs review revenue operations

KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Tariq Bajwa and Member Customs Nisar Muhammad Ali Khan visited Karachi Customs House to hold meetings with the Pakistan Customs officials on revenue operations at Chairman Secretariat.

The Pakistan Customs Enforcement-South Chief Collector Muhammad Nazim Saleem, Appraisement-South Chief Collector Nasir Masroor, MCC Appraisement-East Collector Najeeb-ur-Rehman Abbasi, MCC Appraisement-West Collector Muhammad Saleem, MCC Preventive Collector Syed Muhammad Tariq Huda, MCC Port Collector Muhammad Bin Qasim, Surriya Butt, Directorate of Transit Trade Director General Khawar Fareed Maneka and others were also present in these meetings.

During the meetings, FBR Chairman and Member Customs stressed upon the achievement of revenue targets of respective departments and asked the officers to evolve a comprehensive strategy in this regard.

Moreover, the high-ups of FBR have urged the customs officers to gear up their efforts to achieve the target of Rs 2810 billion for the FY 2014-15. Some officers of FBR raised the questions over this year target and asked the FBR chairman to curtail it as they deemed the target unachievable for the current year. The FBR Chairman answered that the matter has been discussed with the Federal Minister of Finance Ishaq Dar who will soon inform the FBR about the decision of finance ministry in this regard.
