FBR directs PRAL to prepare lists of withholding agents

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to prepared lists of withholding agents who have free tax numbers.

Sources told Customs Today that the FBR has directed Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) to finalize these lists according to RTOs and LTUs and forward the same to Inland Revenue Operation Wing.

Sources said that these lists will be provided to RTOs and LTUs concerned then the chief commissioners will make contact with withholding agents having free tax numbers for their enrollment.

Sources said that after electronic enrollment, the agents will be able to adjust their passwords while electronically submitting their withholding statements.

It is pertinent to mention here that this decision has been taken after the FBR noticed decrease in the withholding tax payment during the current fiscal year.
