FBR enhances GST on textile, sports & medical apparatus from 6% to 9%

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) increased General Sales Tax (GST) from 6 % to 9 % on the local sales of five types of export quality products. Local sales within the country of export quality of textile products, medical apparatus and sports goods will face high price.

FBR sources told Customs Today that the board has increased the GST from 6% to 9% on the import as well as local sale within the country of export quality textile & leader products, medical apparatus and sports goods which will cause a huge increase in the price of these products.

Sources further told that the board has also increased the general sales tax from 19% to 20% on the foam and spring mattress.

Meanwhile, the FBR decreased the General Sales Tax (GST) from 17% to 6% on bags, shoes, fabrics and belts made from pure composite leader. The board has issued notification in this regard, sources added.

It is important to mention here that FBR has already imposed 5% GST on the Information Technology (IT) services including programming, networking, software development, data analytics, system administration and IT infrastructure.
