FBR starts scrutinising companies paying heavy electricity bills but avoid paying taxes

LAHORE: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Regional Tax officer-II has started registration of companies paying heavy electricity bills but not in tax-net.

Sources informed Customs Today that Regional Tax office-II Lahore has brought almost 15 companies, manufacturing firms and factories in tax-net during the recent drive against the tax evaders.

The RTO-II has taken this action after detecting many cases against the tax defaulter companies in last few days. The other purpose of this move is to increasing the rate of taxpayers in the country.

On the other hand, FBR is adopting various strategies to expand the tax-net as it has decided that Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) numbers will be treated as tax numbers for individuals, while NTN will be issued only companies.
