Pervaiz Rashid said that in the international community, those nations were considered good and patriotic which paid taxes. In those countries where the people did not pay taxes the governments were forced to tax every item of daily use like petroleum products, electricity, water etc which affected the poor section of the society, he added.

He appreciated the leaders of traders community for reaching an agreement with the government on a tax system which would not only fetch tax money to the national exchequer, but also provide facilities to the traders. “We have to follow the world financial practices and if we fail to do so we will only lag behind,” he added.

He said that filer traders could get loan for their businesses while the non-filers are refused such loans as their documents do not show proof of their business.

Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Revenue Haroon Akhtar Khan, MNA Abdul Manan, FBR Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan and trading community leaders including Ajmal Baloch, Naeem Mir and Khawaja Shafiq also spoke on the occasion.
