FBR introduces new system for clearance through ‘Border Customs Stations’

MULTAN: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has introduced a new system of imports and exports of goods through” Border Customs Stations”.

Sources told Customs Today the that FBR  recently issued notification under SRO 840/2015 (I) Rules, governing imports and exports at Border Customs Stations. The Model of Customs Collectorate Multan also received the notification regarding new procedure for the clearance of export and import consignments through Border Customs Stations.

According to a notification from Federal Board of Revenue, entrance of import goods into Pakistan will be done with this process. On arrival of import goods the gate-in officer will obtain the documents relating to cargo and will enter the data of the vehicle number, consignment number, name and address of the importer against the system generated Conveyance Intimation Report (CIR) number through the passage from the person-in-charge.

The accomplishment of the documentation of the cargo will be recorded electronically through digital system with the assistance of authorized agent from Customs Department. If anyone wants to transport goods manually then authorized agent will enter its data in the Customs computerized system for the sake of record.

The Federal Board of Revenue will appoint Cross Border Officer soon for the confirmation of import and export digital system. Cross Border Officer will confirm the import and export consignments of the clients after verification of its physical examination before leaving.

But if the Collectorate does not contain the required infrastructure and facilities for the implementation of Customs Computerized System Collector may direct his staff to provide necessary facilities available at the time of clearance.
