ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has enhanced security measures on its online tax filing platform by introducing a new CAPTCHA verification feature on the IRIS 2.0 login page.
The move aims to prevent spam activity, automated bot access, and unauthorized login attempts.
Under the new system, users logging into the IRIS portal are now required to enter a CAPTCHA code displayed on the screen before accessing their accounts. The CAPTCHA comes with a strict time limit of 15 seconds, after which it expires and must be refreshed.
According to officials, the step has been taken to strengthen cybersecurity protocols and protect sensitive taxpayer data from potential misuse. The FBR has been actively upgrading its digital infrastructure to improve system integrity and ensure secure online compliance services.
Taxpayers are advised to carefully enter the CAPTCHA code within the given time frame to avoid login delays. If the code expires, users can generate a new one instantly through the refresh option.
The introduction of the timed CAPTCHA is part of FBR’s broader strategy to enhance transparency, protect user data, and maintain system stability amid increasing online traffic on the IRIS portal.
Experts believe that such verification mechanisms are essential to safeguard digital tax systems and prevent automated attacks, particularly during peak filing seasons.
