FBR issued notices to 60,000 potential taxpayers

KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue issued notices to 60,000 people to bring them into tax net. These notices were issued during the last week of May, 2015.

This was disclosed by Assistant Commissioner Farzana Altaf while talking to Customs Today. She said that FBR was in search of people who are leading a luxurious life but avoiding to pay income tax. She said that main objective to issue notices to these people was to pursue them to pay tax so their this action will able to us to achieve revenue target during the current fiscal year.

She further said if all these persons deposit tax during current month government will get additional revenue of Rs 4 billion. It is pertinent to mention here that FBR sources disclosed that they obtained the data of tax defaulters from the offices of vehicles registration authority, through utility bills, telecom companies and other departments of public dealings. She said that through these measures people deposit taxes of Rs 60 crores
