FBR issues notices to 300 tax defaulters

KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued notices to 300 tax defaulters while measures are being taken to expand tax net during the next four months of the current fiscal year.

Additional Commissioner Regional Tax Office-I Tahir Awan informed Customs Today that the RTO has already sped up its efforts to collect more revenue to meet financial target set for the fiscal year 2015-16. He said that 300 notices were issued to tax defaulters. He said that taxes worth Rs 70 million are still pending against the defaulters.

He said that all the defaulters are given one month time to clear their outstanding tax amount otherwise strict legal action will be taken against them. He said that he is hopeful of bringing 7,000 new taxpayers under the tax net.
