Sources said that FBR issued audit notices to more than 100 traders, businessmen and industrialists who belonged to Multan to conduct an audit of their outstanding dues and taxes as they failed to file their income tax returns.

It is important to mention here that FBR also offered to abolish audit cases on payment of 25 percent additional tax, besides extending the date for submission of revised tax returns for individual taxpayers till December 31.

Meanwhile, cases of hundreds of thousands of salaried persons selected for the audit have been settled without the collection of any additional taxes.
