ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced a significant security enhancement for its online portal, IRIS, by making a login authenticator feature within the Tax Asaan Mobile App mandatory for all Sales Tax (ST) Registered users.
The move aims to bolster the security of taxpayer accounts and data accessed through the IRIS system. According to a notification displayed on the IRIS login page, ST Registered users are now required to utilize the login authenticator function integrated into the latest version of the Tax Asaan Mobile App to access their accounts.
This two-factor authentication process adds an extra layer of security beyond the traditional username and password, significantly reducing the risk of unauthorized access.
To comply with the new requirement, affected taxpayers must download and install the most recent iteration of the Tax Asaan Mobile App on their mobile devices. The app is available for download on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
The FBR has also provided resources to assist users with the transition. A downloadable “How-To Guide” in PDF format and a video tutorial are accessible from the IRIS login page pop-up, offering step-by-step instructions on setting up and using the login authenticator.
Taxpayers requiring further assistance can contact the FBR helpline at 051-111-772-772 or send an email to [email protected]. This new security measure is part of the FBR’s ongoing efforts to enhance the digital infrastructure and security protocols for tax administration in Pakistan.
