ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial has reportedly taken notice of advance income tax notices issued to salaried individuals. The proposed measure aims to reduce the tax burden on employees who earn exclusively through salaries.

Under the proposal, the FBR may stop issuing quarterly advance tax notices to these individuals. However, taxpayers who earn income from other sources may still have to pay adjustable advance tax.

Additionally, the proposal seeks to ensure the immediate adjustment of excess advance tax collected from salaried employees. This step would help prevent unnecessary financial pressure on workers who already pay income tax through deductions at source.

The proposed changes aim to provide relief to salaried taxpayers and address concerns over advance tax demands on income that already faces tax deductions.
