FBR mulling over to switch customs data from One Customs to WeBOC

KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is mulling over to switch all Customs related clearance data from One Customs (manual system) to WeBOC, automated system.

According to details, the PRAL, a private software firm is currently looking after and handle the clearance data of Pakistan Customs through One Customs (manual system) and keeping all records of Customs imports. However; the FBR authorities are planning to shift and hand over all import clearance data to the Directorate of Reforms and Automation in upcoming days.

The sources informed Customs Today that around 2500 employees are working in PRAL Department to handle and keep the import intact, while after establishing the Directorate of Reforms and Automation, the working on WeBOC, automated system gets momentum and the authorities concerned have started to shift all clearance process on automated system.

The sources further revealed that the entire process will take few months in order to shift all related data from One Customs to WeBOC and after that the FBR authorities will look into the matter and PRAL Department will no more in order to facilitate the Customs Department.
