ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officials across Pakistan are staging a nationwide protest today, according to sources within the Revenue Division. The demonstration is reportedly in response to recent FBR policies that allegedly grant significant benefits exclusively to officers in Grade 17 and above, leading to widespread discontent among staff in lower grades.
Grievances Over Benefit Policies
The primary grievance driving the protest stems from recently announced benefits that sources claim are intended solely for FBR officers at Grade 17 and higher. These specific policies reportedly include the provision of rental apartments and the establishment of a Common Pool Fund (CPF) for these senior officials.
Sources indicate that FBR officials in Grade 17 and below have not been granted any comparable benefits, which is the core reason for their decision to protest the board’s policies.
Nationwide Action and Pen-Down Strike
As part of the planned action, FBR officials in Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) throughout the country are observing a pen-down strike. They are also holding protests at their respective offices to voice their dissatisfaction with the perceived disparity in treatment and benefits within the organization.
The nationwide protest highlights the growing discontent among lower and mid-level FBR staff regarding policies they view as favouring only higher-ranking officers.
