FBR planning to bring unregistered traders into tax net

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is considering getting the voters lists made for conducting elections of markets, from trade unions of Islamabad in order to trace the unregistered traders.

Sources at the FBR told Customs Today that this strategy will be implemented all over the country after it found helpful in broadening the tax net.

They added that trade unions would prove big source of bringing the non-taxpayers into the tax net as traders usually make themselves registered with trade union to save their businesses.

Keeping in view this, FBR has decided this to take lists as it will prove helpful for finding non-taxpayers.

As per initial investigations, FBR has detected numbers of traders those were running business for many year but out of tax net. And now FBR will officially demand the list from unions.
