FBR plans action against owners of CNG stations involved in tax evasion

KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to start crackdown against the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations involved in tax evasion.

The sources inform Customs Today that on the directives of the higher authorities the Intelligence Wing has been assigned a task to prepare comprehensive report against the owners of the CNG stations who failed to pay the proper tax or against those who have not filed their tax returns.

The report has been compiled and is being tabled to the higher authorities of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) after which a crackdown plan will be chalk out for the action against the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations.

The sources have also informed that the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations have not paid their due in form of tax which worth billion of rupees and such departments and sector are now will be deal with iron hand who were not touched earlier or relaxation was given to them in filling taxes.

Along with enhancing the tax net the higher authorities are not very much eager to fulfill the target of the tax recoveries so that revenue can be boosted, the source added.
