ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has increased sales tax rate on mobile phones and advised the authority concerned to ensure the collection of tax at the prescribed rates.
According to the details, the FBR has issued sales tax measures about increase in sales tax on mobile phones imports.
Sources said that to rationalize the rates of sales tax on imported mobile phones in comparison with the prices of different categories of mobile phones, the rates have been increased depending on the category of phone from Rs 150, Rs 250 and Rs 500 to Rs.300, Rs. 500 and Rs 1000, respectively.
While the FBR has directed the Customs Collectorates and Regional Tax Offices, Large Taxpayers Units to ensure the sales tax at announced rate from importers.
