PESHAWAR: President of the Frontier Customs Agents Association (FCAA), Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi, has welcomed the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) recent directive restricting industrial units in the merged districts to transport concessionary goods only through bonded carriers equipped with tracking systems.
In a press statementy, Sarhadi, also an Executive Member of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), said the move will improve monitoring of goods from import to delivery at the designated tribal area units.
Under the Customs General Order, Trans-shipment Goods Declaration (TP-GD) must be filed at the port of entry for clearance at Azakhel Dry Port for containerized cargo. Transport of goods must be through bonded carriers, whose movement will be monitored in line with the Tracking and Monitoring of Cargo Rules, 2023, from port of entry to industries after clearance.
Sarhadi also commended Customs officials, including Chief Collector Jamil Nasir, Collector Farkh Sharif, and Additional Collector Muhammad Zakir, for facilitating the FBR’s order. He expressed hope the measure will ensure safe transportation and prevent misuse of concessionary goods en route from Karachi seaport to the merged districts.
