FBR seeks details of seized cell phones

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has sought the number of seized cell phones from all Customs Collectorates and Directorate General of Customs Intelligence.

The department decided to raise this issue with Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) for the sale of these cell phones. PTA urged the FBR to prevent the selling of cell phones through auction and on the PTA requirement the FBR sought the figures from officials of the department.

It is necessary to mention here that prior to this, PTA wrote a letter to FBR before the auction of cell phones for take the official permission to sell the cell phones. Following this, the FBR halted the auction of of cell phones.

Now, after raising the matter by collectorates and directorates, the FBR has realised that it is a golden chance to collect revenue for the country.
