SCCI for withdrawal of Infrastructure Development Cess

SIALKOT: Sialkot Chamber Of Commerce And Industry (SCCI) President Major (r) Mansoor Ahmed has said that the the Punjab government should withdraw 0.9 percent Infrastructure Development Cess on import without any delay.

Mansoor said the business community of Punjab will try to clear their import consignments from Karachi and the revenue of Sindh government will increase whereas the revenue of Punjab government will have to face decline.

He said that the industry is facing difficulties due to purchasing of raw material on hike price and payment of huge amount of utility bills and taxes. He said “if the Government of Punjab will not take return the tax, the prices of raw material used for export-oriented products increase.”

He said that the imposition of taxes will put locks on industries due to which already economic-hit country will have to bear unemployment at a large scale.

Unfriendly policies did not help cultivating the sustainable economy, he said, adding that the strike is continue on dry ports in whole Punjab and consignments of export and imports are stuck up causing loss of billions of rupees.
