ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has sent arrest warrants for modal Ayyan Ali to the Customs Collectorate for enforcement. The bailable arrest warrants had been issued by judge of the Special Customs Court Rawalpindi.

The FBR has directed the customs authorities that the court orders should be executed accordingly. The customs has decided that in case she is not available in Karachi than arrest warrants will be delivered to her on her Dubai address.

It is pertinent to mention here that judge of the Special Customs Court issued bailable arrest warrants of model Ayyan Ali on June 7 because she had not been appearing in court since December 2016.

Ayyan has been ordered to appear in court on June 21. If she will not appear before the court on the due date, the court may issue non-bailable arrest warrants and then she will have to face the consequences.

Modal Ayyan Ali’s counsel has requested the court to exempt her from personal appearance due to her mother’s illness. However, the request was dismissed by the court and the judge, Muhammad Shiraz Kayani, inquired from the counsel whether the model plans to return to Pakistan or not.

The model was arrested on March 14, 2015 on the charges of money laundering after the customs officials recovered $506,000 from her luggage at Islamabad’s Benazir Bhutto International Airport before she was leaving for Dubai. She was granted bail in July last year after spending around four months in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail and after that her judicial remand was extended at least 16 times.
