FBR starts identifying lavish vehicles’ owners who don’t pay tax

KARACHI: In a bid to further increase the tax net, the country’s top revenue authority has directed the tax officials to identify income sources of lavish vehicles’ owners.

Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), launching a new campaign to collect tax revenue, has also directed the officials to ensure whether the owners of luxurious vehicle pay tax return, otherwise, confiscate their vehicles.

According to the official sources, tax officials are obtaining data of registered vehicles of above 1,000cc to determine the sources of income of their owners to increase filings of tax returns and already issued notices to the owners of vehicles and around 422 vehicles have been seized on non-compliance.
