FBR suggests imposition of anti-dumping duty on imported tiles

KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is mulling over to impose anti-dumping duty on import of tiles, it is learnt here.

Sources informed Customs Today that the FBR, in its budget recommendations sent to the Federal Ministry of Finance, has sought imposition of anti-dumping duty on imported tiles to protect local tiles industry.

Earlier, the FBR received several complaints from different cadres that the smuggling of foreign tiles has increased and a large quantity of tiles was also dumped in in local market, affecting the indigenous industry.

After having detailed discussion with the collectorates, the FBR has decided to impose anti-dumping duty on imported consignments of tiles.

On the other hand, the importers of tiles have expressed their deep concerns over the expected imposition of anti-dumping duty on imported tiles in the upcoming budget.
