ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue has suspended the sales tax registration of K-Electric with effect from May 20, 2026, according to the taxpayer registration status available on the FBR’s online portal.

The utility’s income tax status, however, remains active on the FBR website.

In response, a K-Electric spokesperson said the company had already engaged with the FBR on the matter and had been assured that the system would be restored to normal.

Legal and tax experts raised concerns over the suspension, warning that the move could affect industrial, commercial and domestic consumers claiming input tax adjustments against electricity bills.
