KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is considering calling a meeting of the telecom companies to discuss a proposal to impose SIM tax and IMEI tax in the next fiscal budget. The meeting will also review the consequences after the levy of these taxes.
Sources informed Customs Today that the high-ups of cellular companies have already informed the FBR that they would face a lot of problems after imposition of new taxes. They also warned the FBR that the telecom sector was already facing financial crunch due to heavy taxes and they will not bear the burden of new taxes.
Representatives of cellular companies also seek time from Prime Minister Advisor on Revenue Haroon Akhtar to apprise him of their problems and sort out some solutions.
