FBR to issue Fifth Tax Directory on February 22

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is all set to issue the Fifth Tax Directory of all taxpayers including tax details of parliamentarians for the Tax Year 2017 on February, 22.

Official sources told Customs Today that the board after approval from federal cabinet has finalized the Fifth Tax Directory for the Tax Year 2017 where the Tax Directory is a manifestation of government’s commitment to provide access to information to the general public and help create public awareness, motivation and transparency.

Sources told that dozens of parliamentarians who are failed to file their income tax returns, they will not be included in the upcoming tax directory while at least 16 parliamentarians did not file their income tax returns which were not published in the tax directory of Tax Year 2016. On the other hand, 20 parliamentarians were failed to submit their income tax returns during tax year 2015.

As per sources, the total number of taxpayers who have filed their returns and included in the 2016 Tax Directory increased to 1,216,614 compared with 1,074,418 taxpayers in the directory for the Tax Year 2015.

It is important to mention here that the previous government had published a tax directory of parliamentarians for the tax years 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. However, the incumbent government has approved to issue the Tax Directory of all taxpayers including the parliamentarians on February 22.
